Good afternoon, everyone
Firstly, a quick apology for the error on the message sent earlier on behalf of Lady Captain, regarding the nominations for Club President 2023. The opening sentence should have referred to 2022 and I apologise for that.
"˜Mowing Down Boundaries' - No I haven't gone completely mad just yet! Some of you may have noticed that a young lady has joined the green keeping team recently, which I am reliably informed is a first for Lymm Golf Club. Abigail joined the team recently and is making great progress, working diligently and with great enthusiasm, I feel sure that she will be an asset to the team.
Abigail commented: - "Firstly, I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the club for providing me with this platform to reach out and introduce myself. My name is Abi Birchall, and I am the new trainee greenkeeper here at Lymm Golf Club. I am from Warrington and reside in Great Sankey with my partner and two sons, Kobe, age 13, and Blake, age 8. My background has been predominantly in customer service roles. However, during the Covid pandemic, I was made redundant, which led to me starting and running my own milk round. As you can imagine, this included long hours and cold nights, meaning I am no stranger to tough conditions, to say the least! I am an outdoor person and when the opportunity arose to work at a golf club, I was excited by the prospect. I am hoping to gain as much knowledge as possible from the greenkeepers here at Lymm and have a successful career in greenkeeping. I am looking forward to getting to know more of you and would like to thank the club for providing me with this opportunity."
All the best,
Abi
I am sure you will join with me in wishing Abi, a long, enjoyable, and successful career with us, you will see a picture of Abi being welcomed by the team in James' end of year report.
End of year message from James, our Course Manager - please read here.
I have been asked to make you aware that the funeral of former member, Mike Millman, is scheduled to take place on Monday 9th January, 11:20 at Walton Lea Crematorium and then at Padgate Conservative Club afterwards. I will issue a reminder of the details in the New Tear.
Facebook, Twitter, and other social media - Over the coming weeks and months we aim to ramp up our exposure on social media.
We can all relate to the power of social media and the instant impact it can have (both good and bad) in everyday life for everyone.
We aim to concentrate on delivering positive messages about our golf club to the immediate vicinity and the golfing audience further afield.
All I would ask at this stage is that when events, sporting or social are reported from the club, that you please share them amongst your own networks to enhance the number of recipients we are able to reach out to.
Please just help when and where you can.
The opening and closing times of the club and facilities are posted around the club but may also be found here.
Don't forget that Steve and Fizz will still be here tomorrow for any last-minute Christmas Gifts! - I am sure that they will still be able to sell you some tickets for the Xmas Draw as well!!
James, our course manager has put together an end of year report, so I will just finish this week with a brief personal message: -
As I have now completed just over three months since Tim left, I would like to express my sincere thanks to you, the members for the welcome and good wishes that I have received. I think that 2023 is going to be a challenging year for many golf clubs and for many different reasons, however I am confident that with the structure and personnel we in place, there will be the opportunity for us to thrive. Please be assured that I will work tirelessly for you and this club, practicing a work ethic of a 'Can Do - Will Do' approach as well as a desire for continuous improvement and development.
May I wish all of you and your families a very enjoyable festive season and a successful 2023.
Play safe and Stay Safe
Yours in Golf
