Friday Message

Good afternoon, everyone

Golf, this weekend, is highly likely to be starting from the 10th hole due to the forecast and the level of rain already experienced this week. For those of you playing, you are advised to access the 10th tee via the driveway up to the green keeping complex as the alternative footpath is likely to be quite treacherous. Please check the course status via the ‘App’ or Web site or with Steve and Fizz in the shop for any updates in the morning.

As we now enter the New Year, you will hopefully notice an increase in both social and golfing activities and as such I will try to ensure that all opportunities are communicated to you in a timely fashion.

On Sunday 29th January there will be a ‘Family Carvery Lunch’ available at 13:00, priced at just £22 for adults and £12 for younger people and this includes a 3 Meat Carvery, with all the appropriate trimmings, a selection of Kelly’s special homemade desserts, plus a glass of wine or a soft drink with your meal. You are advised to book this with Karen or a member of the team at your earliest opportunity to avoid disappointment.

Traditional Valentines Day is of course February 14th – However, because this falls on a Tuesday we will be organising a Valentines dining experience on Friday 10th February. Initially we will need to ascertain whether there will be sufficient interest generated to attend. Please let Karen or a member of the team know that you would wish to attend, a full menu will be distributed shortly.

On behalf of our Lady Vice Captain - Jules, A huge thank you to all of you that donated clothing for the charity looking after the local homeless. They were overwhelmed with the ‘Van Load’ that Jules ended up taking to them, well done and thank you.

The second of the ‘Junior Winter Series’ is scheduled to take place on Sunday (22nd January). This is proving to be a popular format and a great way of integrating new members into the club. Anyone interested in taking part or helping with Dave and the team in encouraging such activities for our juniors, please let Dave Clarke know or send me your details and I will liaise with Dave and his team on your behalf.

Another popular dining activity in the form of a ‘Family Sunday Carvery’ will be taking place on Mother’s Day, which is on Sunday 19th March. This event is certain to be fully booked, so please ensure that you have made your reservations with Karen or a member of the team in good time. Full details of timings and menu will be communicated to you very soon.

For all the rats, snakes, dragons, monkeys, and others out there (I am not being rude) – we are looking to include Chinese themed dishes around the start of the ‘Chinese New Year’ which is from around 22nd January to 21st February. The Chinese signs of the zodiac are of course labelled as animals including the ones mentioned above and this year 2023 is the year of the ‘Rabbit’ - Once the menu details are confirmed I will send them out to you all.

Enjoy the weekend and try to stay dry.

Play Safe and Stay Safe

Yours in Golf
